On the Necessity of Taking Action to Manifest Your Desires

Oh Action, my Action!

You know, a lot of people I know in the "Law of Attraction" community worry about whether or not they are taking enough actions to make their desires manifest. It's hard not to think about this when every self-help guru out there is screaming "take action now!"

Often they are asking us to take action to buy their products, which is fine, because they got bills too, right? But do we really have to take all that action to make things happen?

Or can we wait, align ourselves with our highest good, and let it come to US!???

I thought, er...more like, I WORRIED about this issue a lot when I was just learning about Law of Attraction and how to create my own reality. In fact, this topic probably bugged me more than any other issue related to deliberate creation.

I finally came to terms with the concept of action a couple of years ago, and then the subject of "should we take action" became all the rage again in various Law of Attraction discussion groups and Abraham-Hicks forums, thanks to the popularity of the movie "The Secret."

It seems that many of the "gurus" in "The Secret" are very ACTION oriented. Like I said above, they got bills too, and they want us to take action to buy their products. Heck, we all want people to take action to buy our products and services, don't we? And we should, or else how are we going to pay our bills?

But I guess it bugged me that I saw a little "crossover" in the marketing from some of these very famous authors and speakers. A few of them would teach that taking action is essential to manifesting desires, and the action they insisted you should take was to get out your credit card and order everything they have for sale. Again, no judgment here about selling products or services. WE ALL DO IT. It's how people make money.

But to teach about taking action, a very complicated issue in fact, as if it is a "done deal" and to tell people "hey, you just need to get off your butt and do something," does not serve the average seeker of truth. There is more to the whole issue of whether or not you need to take action at any given time in your life. Like I said, it's complicated.

To be fair, I will say that most of the self-help masters who appeared in that movie do give a more balanced discussion of action in their full work. They just had sound bites in "The Secret" and I wouldn't judge them by that.

Nonetheless,I guess I became a little peeved at all the "we need to take action" type posts that were showing up on my Abraham-Hicks forums, so in response I wrote this post below to the Abraham-Hicks Yahoo group (theAbelist).

I felt a great relief in venting my feelings on the subject of action. After writing this post I also recorded an audio seminar with a much more detailed explanation of my beliefs about taking action. Read what I have to say below and see if it triggers some of your beliefs on the question "is taking action necessary to manifest desires."

I wrote this last year, but it still applies, so I'm sharing with you now.

"On the Necessity of Taking Action to Produce Manifestation"

by Kyle Curry

Just do it!

Pull yourself up by your bootstraps!

Just do it!

Act now!

Just do it!

"Your actions, and your action alone, determines your worth."

Just do it!

"Action may not always bring happiness; but there is no happiness without action."

Just do it!

"The secret of getting things done is to act!"

Just do it!

"I think there is something, more important than believing: Action!"

ACTION!
ACTION!
ACTION!

I bet you've heard about action all your life, right?

What's all this talk about action and the necessity of taking action to get what you want?

Is action Necessary? Sufficient? Superfluous? Does it come in a can? Has it been tested by the FDA and approved for use in consumer applications? How did it get through airport security with a "velar plosive" in it? And also, can I get it with melted cheddar sauce on top or does that cost extra? Should I join the "Action Caucus" or the "Inaction Coalition"? Should I visit "Actionaholics Anonymous" or should I go on a strict "Leap First" diet (I've heard this diet drops pounds fast!) What to do? I'm so confused. Perhaps a poem will assist me in finding my inner bliss in regards to action.

A Short Poem, in Honor of Action

Action, Oh Action, our fearful trip is done,
My couch has weathered every crack,
The manifestation has been won,
The money's here and my darling's near
And my Porsche is almost done.

But Oh Action, Action! Action!
Oh the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the floor my action lies
'Neath my Spicy Cheetos bag.

Action, Oh Action!
Rise up and hear the bells,
Rise up, and see that you are what
The self-help guru sells.

My Action does not answer,
His lips are pale and still,
He does not see them bring me
My new Cadillac Seville.

Exult oh shores, and ring oh bells,
For I would mournful tread,
Walk the floor my action lies,
If I choose to get out of bed.

******************************************************

Ahhh poetry...works every time. I find myself enlightened.

Is action necessary? Is action superfluous? Is action an illusion? Is action the key to manifestation of our desire? The answer is...

Yes. Yes, yes yes! That's right, action is all of the above. It is both/and/or/neither necessary nor/and/also sufficient. Action promises success. Action leads to calamity. I offer the final word on action. Listen carefully, for I shall whisper softly and only the chosen shall hear...

FACT: The Universe is Unlimited; it is Infinite in scope and power. Drop that one in your blender and frappe it for ten seconds before you read on...

Ready?

FACT: You can be, do and have anything you desire. What's more, you can be, do and have it in ANY manner you desire. You can manifest with action. You can manifest without action. You can manifest with pseudo-action. You can manifest with preconceived action. You can manifest without the knowledge of action. You can manifest with the pretense of action. You can pretend to manifest with the pretense of action. You can manifest in your sleep. You can manifest with plain old hard work. You can even manifest ACTION as your manifestation. (Fun!)

Phew...I'm tired from all that action.

Can I ask you some questions?

You are manifesting right now, as we speak. Tell me, what action did you take to make this writing appear in your reality? What action did you take to make the air in your lungs appear there? What action did you take to get your hair to look like that way? (It's doesn't look too bad, really, don't fret over it).

FACT: You have created everything in your reality that exists at this moment. Look around. Can you trace each item, each relationship, each dust bunny under the couch to a specific action or set of actions you took to make it happen? Were you affirming dust bunnies just last week? Were you visualizing them growing? Because if you weren't, I have news for you...look under the couch baby!

Let me explain it in simple terms:

If you believe action to be a necessary part of the manifestation process you will find evidence to support your position. If you believe action to be unnecessary to the manifestation process you will find evidence to support that position as well. In fact, the Universe will support you in any belief of any kind at any time in any place for any reason that you choose to believe it. Want orange feet? Believe that you have orange feet and the Universe will support you in that belief. Thus offereth the Universe.

So in regards to ACTION, choose your belief, find the evidence to support that belief and then take ACTION accordingly.

As for me, I am choosing to believe that action DOES come with cheese sauce and it doesn't cost extra! Have fun with it.

And...

That's the final word on action from me, but here's a quotation from another guy on the necessity of action. See if you recognize who the speaker is in this one...

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." ---Matthew 6:25-34

And that's my take on action.

--Kyle

P.S. Thanks to Walt Whitman for the, er, poem.
